design build some shit

i went to have a look at the city view’s show room on saturday arvo. This is the latest HDB DBSS, Design and Build Something scheme(or Design Build Some Shit), which is designed and will be build by private developers

It looks real nice. nice homogenous tiles, spa-like bathrooms. Doesn’t look like a HDB flat at all, so says the housing agent. In fact It looks just a like standard private condominium….except….except this is by our very own HDB of Singapore. Imagine now in Singapore, private condominium standards in our public housing. That indeed is an achievement for HDB!

Except for one small small catch. The price is not that public housing standard, in fact it is just starting to barely touch the lower end of the price range for private condos. The price if not wrong ranges from 300K+ for the 3rooms model, to about 700K for a high floors 5 room mode. For a 4 room in this DBSS plan, ie 3 bedroom and a living room of size 1012sq foot would cost about 530K-580K.

With that 4 room in mind, you would take a loan for 30 years. if you are a young couple, working for 2 yrs(in a normal executive position) and looking to settle down. you would probably need to fork out about $2000 per month.

Now for each you would have to fork out about $1000 monthly from your cpf to pay for this housing. and from that you are probably looking at a total monthly salary of about say maybe $4000-$4500. Add the couple’s salary and you have $8000-$9000 total for the lovey dovey couple.

If you are earning that range, good for you. you can afford to buy this DBSS!!!!

erm…but wait, for housing under HDB, the couple can’t earn more than 8000 per month, they are earning too much to be eligible to purchase public housing!! fuck pwned by HDB!!

Unless you have loads cash on hand from your bull run last year, rich parents, collecting illegal bets, or working for years, you probably would have to struggle to pay the loan for this house, after the necessary downpayments in the beginning.

For me, i think i would probably and can only stick to true blue public housing. This new DBSS public housing does not seem to be for the normal public.

it was my first time to go to the driving range at marina bay golf course. The driving range has 4 decks, which can hold quite alot of people.

the 1st deck, full. went up to the second, no luck. the third deck, yes there was. but me and SH wants more room to swing for fear of whacking people with our stray balls, and the embarassment of not hitting the ball(mostly for SH).

we went up to the no shelter last deck. it was empty except for a few guys at the end of the deck. I looked down from the deck. it looks pretty high up for a driving range.

suddenly i had a fear of swinging my golf club off the deck, and down.

it didn’t happen…

my bintan trip

4 days 3 nights in Bintan was great. I went in on Friday. And since it wasn’t on a long weekend or school holiday, there wasn’t much crowd there.

it was pretty obvious on the golf course, with no one within sight while I played, except for the workers on the ground. It was an enjoyable game, with my score made up of mostly double or triple bogeys, considering I haven’t played on an actual course or driving range for ages, this score is not too bad.

I played on the Bintan resort’s Ian Baker Finch Course. It was good. With a few tee off spots hanging high and overlooking the fairway. Bomb a nice one, and you see it float nicely and land on the fairwy. But I heard that the other one, the Jack Nicklaus Course is planned along the coast. So the scenery might be pretty fantastic on that.

The ATV off road ride was pretty enjoyable too. For a price of $50 per hour, it might seem pretty steep. But it was great fun. Except for when the ATV is in soft sand, where I got stuck a few times. But something weird about this, is that the ATV were supposed to be at ease in such situations, no?

Other then that, most of my activities were just spent in the water, either the sea or the pool, swimming or floating around for most of the day. I m happy just happily swimming and floating around like a fat seal.

Back to work tomorrow…… more of this soon hehe.

i discovered one thing about singapore taxi drivers.

do not engage them in any topics to debate. they are always right. you will put into place after an exchange of debate for 3minutes.

on the way to a farewell lunch, my project manager got herself into a conversation with the taxi driver. after a while, i could see that she didnt bother to try reply to any of what the taxis driver said.

for me, i rather play dumb, concentrating hard on my mobile or anything which don’t require me to make conversation with the cab driver.

taxi drivers are a waste of talent. i think litigation has places for them.
